Three Pears

Title: Three Pears

Oil on panel

Size: 8 × 8 inches

This painting was another post-grief effort to stay engaged and keep painting when motivation felt low and focus was hard to find.

It was my first attempt at Impasto with palette knives. The knives gave me the freedom to paint in shapes rather than get caught up in detail — a playful escape from sorrow, and a way of working that didn't demand precision I didn't have.

Painting familiar forms let me relax into the technique instead of fighting it. That combination — a forgiving subject and an unfamiliar tool — is what let experimentation carry me forward. This piece is really about using curiosity and variation as a way out of emotional pain, one shape at a time.
